Current Research

WISH Study

We are beginning a longitudinal study of mother-infant stress regulation: the Women and Infants' Stress and Health (WISH) Study. The project focuses on maternal stress and wellbeing during the perinatal period as predictors of the development of infants' physiological--i.e., HPA axis, autonomic, inflammatory--and behavioral responsiveness to interpersonal stress.

Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting

We will also begin pilot/feasibility testing of a prenatal mindfulness intervention, Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting (MBCP), for pregnant women and their partners. This represents the first step in a planned line of MBCP research in which we examine intervention effects on maternal brain response to infant cues and mother-infant stress regulation.
