Research interests:
I am interested in the effects of context on language processing and on memory for linguistic stimuli. My research has focused on how different study contexts can alter readers' encoding strategies, leading them to encode relatively more information about either the form or the underlying meaning of words and sentences. I have also conducted experiments investigating the effects of contextual cues such as prosody, syntactic ambiguity, and item source on both language comprehension and memory. I am also interested in hemispheric differences in word processing and the neural mechanisms that implement language comprehension. My research uses both behavioral and event-related potential (ERP) methodologies.
