Project Description and development:
As part of a medical internship, Scott Rowan, M.D., collected data from
various outpatient clinics in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The purpose of the study is twofold: first, to determine how well child
behavior problems in Dominican Republic youth can be coded using standardized
measures. Second to gather information and work towards the development
of a standardized measure that can be used with Dominican Republic youth.
Measures:
Clinic records were translated from Spanish to English by Scott Rowan
and a local assistant. Data was then coded by two trained undergraduate
students (F. Markle and T. Jones) and one graduate student in Counseling
Psychology (Cosette Orellana). The Jamaican Youth Checklist (parent
version) was used to do the coding until inter-rater reliability reached
.70 or higher.
Location of Datasets:
Analyses were done using SPSS and the data file name is Dominican Republic.
Three analyses were done using SPSS and the data file name is Dominican
Republic. Three different analyses were completed and each is filed
under Reliability1, Reliability2, and Reliability3, respectively.
Status of project:
New data has been provided by the David Walker Research Institute. This data has yet to be coded and entered.
